Founded in 2021, MUTTS Dog Rescue is a Toronto-based, registered charity organization dedicated to the mission of Moving Underdogs To The Spotlight, where they can secure safe and lasting homes, giving them a second chance at the best possible life.

MUTTS was born out of the shared dedication to dog rescue, bringing together four individuals who, as perfect strangers, met and bonded while collaborating over the past few years, united by their mutual love for dogs.

DIRECTORS

Diana's involvement in rescue work traces back to her commitment to paying it forward, which began when she adopted her first dog from a rescue. Ever since, she has been actively engaged in fostering dogs and orchestrating adoptions, driven by the sheer joy of witnessing contented dogs find loving homes.

At MUTTS, Diana is your dedicated point person for all matters related to fostering.

Ni embarked on her path in dog rescue by adopting her very first dog in 2006. Since then, she has expanded her furry family by adopting several more dogs, fostering numerous pups, and actively assisting in the adoption process. When she's not completely immersed in the world of dogs, Ni enjoys her other passions – cooking, hiking, and savoring a fine glass of wine.

The rescues featured on our social media and website? You can credit Ni for that! She takes charge of intake procedures, adoptions, and the nurturing of our prospective alumni.

Kat’s journey into rescue began in 2018 when she adopted her very own Texas mutt. From there, she’s been on missions to different parts of Texas, Ontario, Manitoba and Mexico to pull dogs from unfortunate situations, fostered multiple dogs, and adopted a spicy little Meximutt.

With MUTTS, you can find Kat at most events, filling your newsfeeds with tons of rescue content and helping coordinate adoptions.

OUR MUTTLEY CREW

When I was little I had printed out - and hung in my room - a pretend certificate that said, 'Congratulations on saving so many animals in the world'. Many years later, I would always stay true to that childhood hope through my volunteer work in the rescue world over the past 10 years.

Mandy is a self-proclaimed doggo matchmaker, snuggler, and  mom.

FOSTER LEAD

When I got my dog Nash, I wanted to help give other dogs the opportunity to be loved and cared for like all dogs deserve. At MUTTS, I get to work with so many wonderful fosters that do just that until these dogs find their forever families. I also love being part of an AMAZING team that goes above and beyond to advocate for the furry ones in need.

In my spare time, I love to indoor cycle, travel, and hike.

ANDREA

FOSTER COORDINATOR

After adopting my best girl, Autumn, from MUTTS I wanted to be a small part of helping other dogs find their forever homes, and seeing them living their best lives has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

When I'm not helping out with the foster team, I like to bake or read my way through a mountain of books.

FOSTER COORDINATOR

Brooke grew up around all kinds of pets (dogs, cats, birds, fish, hamsters, chameleons … the list goes on!) and knew from an early age that rescuing animals would be part of her life. Since then, she’s adopted a cat, rescued a dog, and recently foster failed, bringing the household animal count to three.

She spends most of her spare time vacuuming pet hair and refilling water bowls but wouldn’t have it any other way!

My favourite thing about MUTTS is getting to work with a stellar team and getting to meet other dog lovers that care for animals as much as we do! It brings me no better joy than to see those happy faces (both human and canine!) when we find a mutt their forever home

In my free time, you can find me watching endless dog videos, hitting the slopes, or indulging in a good read.

ADOPTIONS COORDINATOR

I grew up with dogs, and after my first dog passed, I started donating and volunteering at dog rescues, from a young age. My love of animals followed me through school, completing undergraduate and master’s degrees in animal sciences.

As I finish up school and unable to adopt a dog of my own, I love to be able to match dogs with families and make a difference that way.

Taty started her rescue journey when she adopted Riplee, one of the Dory 7. She decided to combine her passion for helping animals and her love of MUTTS and initially joined our team as part of the MIU but has since taken on the role of adoptions coordinator.

In her free time, she enjoys binge-watching shows (like, literally binging them), trying new foods and cuddling up with her two cats and dog.

ADOPTIONS COORDINATOR

I first joined MUTTS as a foster during the pandemic and then joined the fundraising team so I could continue to give back to dogs in need. I've had rescue dogs my whole life, so I love being a small part of helping as many dogs as possible find happy homes. MUTTS is run by a great group of people who care so much about what they do.

In 2022, Carolyn fulfilled her dream of fostering a dog with MUTTS. Her foster journey ended in a foster fail and adopted her dog Brigand. Now she volunteers with the fundraising team to help MUTTS rescue as many dogs possible. In addition to rescue, Carolyn is passionate about education, arts & culture and philanthropy.

Victoria first started with Mutts by foster failing with Buffy. After that she wanted to do more to help but knew she could not intake any more fosters, so decided to help out internally instead. She loves all types of furry friends and is so happy she gets to help other people find their own Buff!

In her spare time she loves to travel, eat and laze around outside like a mutt.

Nicole started her rescue journey in 2019 after the passing of her dog Benny. Since then, she’s been on a rescue mission to Texas, fostered many, facilitated adoptions and adopted one along the way.

In her spare time, Nicole likes to travel, take long walks with Bear and binge watch the Housewives (guilty pleasure).

Ashley became involved with MUTTS when she met Diana through work.
After meeting and adopting the sweetest Manitoba Mama dog, Faye, she has been inspired to help other mama dogs find their forever homes.
Ashley’s partner was inspired by the bond she shared with Faye and decided to adopt a MUTTS dog.
The four of them live together in Mississauga.

Megha started out with MUTTS by being their first-ever foster fail, and wanted to be able to do a little something to support the awesome team at MUTTS that tirelessly help give these beautiful pups a second chance at the happy life they so deserve, and advocating for rescue dogs everywhere. Now two years and two gorgeous MUTTS-pups later, life has never been crazier (and happier!) for our family!
