GOOD WITH HUMANS (ADULTS AND OLDER KIDS) AND DOGS

  • Our sweet Adeline is ready to make her big debut! Adeline is a seven-year-old Cocker Spaniel who came to us a mill discard. Upon arriving with her fosters, she was treated to a wonderful glow-up! Now that she’s looking her best, she’s starting to feel her best and is gaining more and more confidence each day. Adeline is ready to find a home of her very own!

It’s very common for our mill rescues to experience a slow acclimation to their new environments. Adeline has taken her time adjusting to her foster home but her hard work is starting to pay off! Adeline is being fostered with another dog, and he’s been a great help! For starters, he’s showed her what to do with toys and now Adeline has a few favourites of her own. She’s selective about which toys she chooses, likely due to her sore teeth (she’ll be having dental surgery), but she’s found a bear that she likes to lick. We’d recommend soft toys for this gentle gal! Adeline doesn’t have any issues hanging with other dogs. She’ll remain calm when meeting new dogs, allowing them to sniff her, and mostly prefers to sit and observe rather than interact. Adeline would do well in a home with another dog, though she’d likely pair best with a calmer pup! As for cats, she hasn’t met any while in our care, but given her calm temperament, we believe she’d feel right at home with a cat!

When it comes to obedience training, Adeline is starting from scratch. She’s beginning to understand some of the basics, but her adoptive family will have some work to do! Same goes for leash walking: being leashed was definitely a foreign concept for Adeline and she’s expressed some uncertainty. Her fosters have noted improvements already, so with time and patient guidance from her new family, we know Adeline will learn to love her time on the leash! She is a lower energy girl and much prefers to relax at home, but given that she’s overweight, regular exercise will be key to managing her health.

At home, Adeline loves to be with her people! She worries when she can’t see her fosters so she makes a point of following them around. When it comes to new humans, Adeline prefers to be approached slowly and gently and will always lower her head for pets. She’s not a fan of loud people or loud noises and as such, she’d be best suited to home with older kids (12+). Given her lower energy, Adeline would be a great candidate for condo living. She really loves her crate so her adoptive family will need the space to accommodate one for her!

Adeline is potty trained, microchipped and up to date with her vaccines. She has her spay and dental surgery scheduled for May 15. As mentioned, Adeline is overweight, so her adopters will need to work with their vet to manage this.

Though our sweet and gentle Adeline has endured some tough years, we know she’s slowly soaking in the luxuries of her new life! We can’t wait for her to find the comfort and safety that she deserves!
