GOOD WITH HUMANS (ADULTS), DOGS AND CATS

  • We know you love a Corgi, so you’ll be thrilled that Alice is now up for adoption! Alice is a five-year-old tri-coloured Corgi who came to MUTTS as a mill discard. She’s been living it up in the lap of luxury with her fosters and experiencing what it’s like to be part of a family. Spoiler alert: she LOVES people and is ready to find her very own family!

Alice can be a little particular about who she spends time with – she definitely favours humans over dogs and cats! Alice’s fosters have a dog of their own and the interactions have varied. If her foster’s dog approaches too quickly, Alice gets on the defense: she’ll become stiff and will snarl and growl. Meanwhile, if both dogs are being leashed up for a walk, they have no issues hanging in close quarters. If Alice is adopted into a family with an existing dog, slow introductions will be essential. She may never become besties with another dog, but we know she would absolutely thrive as an only child so she can soak in all the attention from her two-legged family members! Re: cats … dog-savvy cats are fine, but Alice is tweaked out by timid cats and will bark. We get it, Alice … sometimes the quietest cats are the scariest ones!

Alice’s needs are pretty simple: as long as her people are close and her ball is squeaky, she’s a happy gal! Alice loves, loves, loves to play fetch because a) it’s fun and b) it’s a game that is played with a human! She’s been known to destroy a toy pretty easily, so dollar store squeakers don’t stand a chance with this girl – she needs tough toys! Along with some indoor fetch, Alice loves to get out for two-three walks per day, averaging 30 minutes. She knows life is a marathon, not a sprint, so she keeps a nice, easy pace and walks very well on a loose leash. Alice loves saying hi and asking for pets from humans on her walks. She’s learning to remain polite during these interactions, aka all four paws must be on the ground before she receives any attention!

Not surprisingly, Alice is an extremely affectionate lady. She loves to climb up on the couch and settle right into her foster’s lap. If your weekend plans include becoming one with the couch, Alice will happily join you! In fact, she’ll join you in just about anything you’re doing … except going up or down the stairs (she’s better going up than down!). Her love of being near people does mean she’s not a fan of spending time alone. She tolerates the crate and will go in without a fight, but once she realizes she’s been left alone, the barking starts. Alice eventually settles, but condo-dwellers should be aware that her barking could be disruptive to neighbours.

Potty training remains a work in progress. She’s had a few accidents in the home and in the crate, so her adoptive family should be armed with potty training knowledge to help Alice cross the finish line! Alice is microchipped and up to date with her vaccines. She had dental surgery on December 23 to extract several bad teeth, and her spay is on the books for February 4 (included in her adoption fee).

Alice’s holiday wish is to find her family – let’s help this girl kick off 2026 in her new home!
