GOOD WITH HUMANS (ADULTS AND KIDS) AND DOGS

  • Next up, Avery! Born in northern Manitoba in the summer and rescued alongside her nine other littermates (including Max, Caroline and Tucker), Avery is a Lab mix with big ears, big paws and an even bigger heart! This gal has been working hard to earn a spot on Santa’s nice list, and she hopes that he brings her a family for Christmas!

Since arriving with her fosters, Avery has been solely in the company of other humans. She’s not complaining, though – so far, she hasn’t met a human that she doesn’t love! Her foster family includes three busy and energetic kids (9, 11 and 13) and Avery has had zero trouble keeping up. Anytime playtime involves the kids, Avery is fully invested, and if the family is too busy to play, she has no problem playing on her own with her toys! As long as she’s invited to hang where her family is, she’s a happy girl. When she’s not engaging with the kids or chewing on a toy, Avery can be found recharging her puppy batteries (she loves to sleep on her back!) or snuggling up for some belly rubs.

Avery loves to head out for a walk, usually clocking around 2-3km per day. She’s working on her leash skills and remains focused so long as she’s walking at a quick pace. Avery is quickly acclimating to the sights and sounds of her neighbourhood. She’ll pause when she hears new sounds (birds, helicopters, etc.), trying to identify the source. If a passing person, dog, or car surprises her, she’ll bark a little, but has no problem letting them pass. Though Avery hasn’t had any close-up exposure to other dogs while with her fosters, we are confident that she’d be great in a home with other dogs, especially given all the time she spent with her siblings before landing with MUTTS!

Avery is potty trained and crate trained. She loves her crate and though she cries for the first few minutes after her fosters leave, she settles quickly. Avery is a big fan of her chew toys and sometimes confuses shoes for toys, though she’s easily redirected back to her toy. Given her (eventual) size, we believe she’d be best in a home with a backyard! Avery is microchipped and has received all of her puppy shots. Her adoption fee will include her spay at six months.

Avery’s siblings have already been scooped up by their forever families - let’s make sure Avery finds her perfect family in time for the holidays!
