CALIX.

JUST A BABY | M | SCRUFF x
MEDIUM ENERGY
GOOD WITH HUMANS (ADULTS AND KIDS 4+) AND DOGS

  • With a name that means goblet or chalice, Calix is basically a tiny trophy for anyone lucky enough to welcome him home. This charming little pup is all heart, all wiggles, and all about soaking up life’s sweet moments—ideally with a stick, a leaf, or a frozen cucumber in his mouth for emotional support.

Calix is the kind of puppy who brings sunshine wherever he goes. He's a friendly, wiggly guy who greets dogs with a polite belly flop before jumping into playful mode. He’s met a variety of pups and has been respectful and sweet—especially if they tell him to tone it down a bit. He’s also great with kids, having gently soaked up the love from a dog-savvy young neighbour (with only a couple of harmless pant leg nibbles). As for humans in general? There are no strangers in Calix’s world—just future best friends. He's curious, cautious at first, and then a total lovebug once he warms up.

When it comes to cats… let’s just say Calix is very intrigued. He’s been cat-tested and while he hasn’t harmed his foster home's feline, he hasn't quite figured out the art of feline etiquette either. He’s likely best suited for a cat-free home or one with a dog-savvy cat and patient humans willing to help guide that relationship.

Calix is still a puppy and learning every day. He’s already picked up “sit,” is working on “come” and “stay,” and is making great progress with crate training and potty habits. He sleeps through the night, eats in his crate, and can be gently coaxed in for naps. He’s almost fully house-trained, with a few playful mishaps here and there when he’s just too busy having fun to remember to pee. On leash, he walks well—especially if he has his trusty leaf or stick—and he’s learning not to pull when he’s curious or unsure.

This boy’s energy is perfectly balanced: playful and curious when it’s go-time, and cuddly and calm when he’s winding down. He loves exploring new things, following his foster around like a tiny shadow, and occasionally curling up in the toy bin when he’s ready to crash. He’s vocal when excited—whether he’s asking for food, trying to get his dog friend to play, or letting out a few barks of protest when things don’t go his way—but it's part of his expressive, lovable personality.

Calix would thrive in a home with active humans who want a puppy to grow with and include in all the fun. Whether you're up for trail walks, backyard games, or practicing new tricks together, he’s game. He’d do great with dog-savvy kids and could enjoy a dog buddy with a similar energy level. And while he’s still learning the rules of the world, his eagerness to please and cheerful spirit make him a total joy to teach.

Calix is microchipped and has received his first round of puppy series shots. His adoption fee will include his remaining puppy shots and neuter at six months. She is currently being treated for Giardia (all associated costs will be covered by MUTTS).

So, if your cup feels like it could use a little more joy, Calix might just be the perfect pup to fill it.
