Meet Caroline! Born in the summer, this tiny polar bear is a former stray pup from a remote community in northern Manitoba who was rescued alongside her eight littermates. Caroline is a sassy girl with strong opinions and lots to say … including that she’s ready to find her family!
Given that she was part of a large litter of puppies, we’re not surprised that she fits right in with her foster family: Caroline shares her new space with not only two other dogs, but also two cats! If it were up to Caroline, every hour would be playtime hour. She loves chasing the smaller dog in the backyard and continuously playing with the bigger dog any chance she gets! She’s even more excited when the kitten comes around (the other cat has been clearer about boundaries). If the dogs or cats are N/A, Caroline will settle for nibbling her fosters’ toes or playing on her own, though her goldfish-level attention span means she switches to a new activity every few minutes! Despite her love of socializing, we believe Caroline would be great as either a solo or second dog. What’s more important is that her adoptive family enjoys being active and is ready to include her on their adventures!
As a puppy, Caroline has lots to learn, but her fosters are happy to report that she’s extremely smart! Caroline picked up on “sit” and “down” within five minutes and would have mastered “stay” just as quickly if she wasn’t locked on wiggle mode! She’s highly food motivated, so with continued exposure and practice, Caroline is certain to excel with her basic obedience. Caroline’s biggest hurdle will be her barking. She currently has two volumes: LOUD or sleeping. She loves to “demand bark,” which means condo living may be out of the question unless her adopters are ready to work on this ASAP. Without correction, this puppy sass will likely develop into a bad behaviour, so her adoptive family will be encouraged to address this right away!
Caroline’s perfect weekend would consist of play, play and more play! She loves being around people so if she had the opportunity to hang with them all day, she would. Caroline has major FOMO, which means she’s keen on being involved as much, and in as much, as possible. Thankfully, her FOMO hasn’t interfered with her ability to settle in her crate when her fosters go out; she may cry or bark for a few minutes before relaxing. Though she’s fine on her own, Caroline would much rather be around her family. Much to her fosters’ chagrin, she’s not much of a cuddler, but she will spare a few kisses if the request is made!
Caroline is great with her crate – she’s crated for two hours at a time during the day when her fosters are home, and has spent up to five hours in her crate when left alone. If crated, she has no problem alerting her fosters when she needs to potty. Potty training is still a work in progress. Her accidents are few and far between as she’s frequently let out. Caroline is microchipped and has received her first round of puppy series shots. Her adoption fee will include her remaining puppy shots and spay at six months.
This sassy little people-enthusiast is ready for her next adventure! She’ll be the perfect addition to just about any home and we know she’ll bring nothing but joy to her future home!
