GOOD WITH HUMANS (ADULTS AND KIDS), DOGS AND CATS

  • Anyone who’s watched the show Frasier remembers the title character as neurotic, self-absorbed and pompous – but thankfully our next adoptable doesn’t share any of those qualities with his namesake! Born January 26, 2025, Frasier came to MUTTS as a puppy mill discard, along with his brother Niles. This big-eared cutie has been thriving with his fosters and is very excited to meet his family!

Though he is a friend to all (humans, kids, dogs and cats), Frasier isn’t afraid to pick a favourite! He’s currently obsessed with his foster mom and loves nothing more than following her around the house. Frasier also likes to keep tabs on the rest of the household members and needs to know where everyone is before he can settle in for a rest. He’s been described as an “old soul,” quietly observing the world around him. When he’s not enjoying the view from the window, Frasier is a busy body! He frequently gets up and moves around during the day, settling in for a few minutes before moving on. Even though he’s a huge fan of nose, head and belly rubs, he never sticks around long enough to get snuggly, except in the morning: Frasier loves an early morning cuddle, as if to say he’s glad to be together again after a whole night apart!

Frasier loves having lots of friends in his life, but he prefers to meet them on his own terms. New humans are always welcome to enter his orbit so long as they approach slowly! If ignored by someone new, he’ll make the first move with a sniff and an invitation to pet him. Frasier’s good manners carry over to his interactions with kids. He’s not overly excitable and has only been around children who are gentle. Frasier is curious about kiddos and we feel he would be a great fit for a family with respectful youngsters! Our boy would also be a-okay in a home with cats. His fosters’ cats have trained Frasier well – he’s keen to play or chase them but they’ve let him know to keep his distance (they hiss if he’s too close), and Frasier is quick to take the hint!

Frasier currently receives four to five walks per day since he is still potty training. As a herding breed, Corgis can have higher exercise needs. Frasier’s exercise comes via a combination of walks and backyard time where he loves to zoomie! His leash skills are still shaping up: Frasier’s fosters are working on heel, but he’s a strong and stubborn little fella who pulls and zigs and zags. He has shown improvement in the last few weeks, but he would benefit from a strong handler while he works on his leash skills. The good news is that he would pair nicely with an active family, which should give him plenty of practice on the leash! He’s also a big fan of snacks, so using treats to motivate specific behaviours will definitely work!

Frasier is working on potty training. He’s had several accidents in the house, but never in his crate. His fosters are learning to recognize his signals and praising him when he potties outside, so it’s simply a matter of time and consistency to help Frasier get over the hump. As for his crate, Frasier will go in on his own during the day and sleeps soundly all night. Frasier is microchipped, neutered, and up to date with his vaccines. He is currently being treated for some parasites (Toxascaris, roundworm and Giardia antigen) – all associated costs will be covered by MUTTS.

Frasier is bound to make the perfect pal for any family! If playful pups and cute little Corgi bums are your thing, you’ll want to scoop this guy up ASAP!
