GILLIGAN.

3 MONTHS | M | MANITOBA MUTT
MEDIUM-HIGH ENERGY
GOOD WITH HUMANS (ADULTS AND KIDS) AND DOGS

  • Gilligan is ready for his next adventure! Born around April 23, this cutie was found under a shed in a remote community in northern Manitoba, where his mama gave birth to him and his siblings (fun fact: mama Ginger was also rescued by MUTTS and will be ready for adoption soon!). With his big paws and sweet puppy face, Gilligan is hoping to charm his way into the hearts of his new family!

Gilligan keeps hearing about a show where a bunch of strangers were stranded on an island together, and TBH, he thinks that sounds like heaven! Gilligan is very enthusiastic about socializing, especially with humans. He loves meeting new people and lapping up all the attention that comes his way. In fact, if people pass by on the sidewalk without stopping to give him pets, Gilligan is noticeably sad. He’s still working on his manners so his fosters have only let him say hi to kids from a distance, but based on his lovable personality we know he would thrive as a family dog! Gilligan would also benefit from an active home. He and his fosters hit the trails every morning and he still has energy for a few shorter walks and park play later in the day. Though his sleep hours to activity hours ratio is currently around 20:4, we know his exercise needs will increase as he grows!

Gilligan’s love of socialization doesn’t just stop at humans – this little guy is all about the doggo hangs, too! Gilligan is being fostered with another dog who has been a great mentor. He’s lucky enough to visit the dog park each day (on a long leash!) and plays very well with the other pups. He can be a little hesitant of bigger dogs, but once his foster brother gives the sign of approval, Gilligan will approach. Though Gilligan loves the company of other canines, he would be a-okay as the only dog in the house. Gilligan’s foster bro has also helped him hone his leash skills! He loves a pack walk and though he’s been known to pull, plant or express interest in bunnies and squirrels, his leash skills are already improving.

At home, Gilligan loves to be near his fosters. He strongly dislikes being alone and will throw a bit of a fit when crated. He certainly doesn’t mean to cause any trouble and since he’s still a puppy, this is a great time for his adoptive family to get in front of any developing separation anxiety and help him build his confidence! Gilligan loves to chew and is still learning to decipher which items are for chewing (big fan of shoes!). He is very close to perfecting his potty training: he’s great to utilize outdoor spaces but may require access to a pee pad when frequent breaks are not available. With his basic obedience, Gilligan has proven himself to be a real smarty pants so we are confident that he will come out of his puppy phase ready to take on the world!

Gilligan is microchipped and has received his first round of puppy shots. His adoption fee will include his final round of puppy shots and neuter at six months.

If you’re looking for an adventurous pup with a big paws and an even bigger heart, Gilligan is the guy for you!
