If you are looking for the perfect little companion to brighten your days, look no further than Greta! Greta is an adult Cockapoo who came to MUTTS as a mill discard, where she was used solely for breeding purposes. We received little to no information about Miss Greta prior to her intake, but what we do know is that she likely never experienced life outside of the barn based on her sensitivity to natural light. Greta has made remarkable progress since her rescue and hopes to find a family who will allow her to love on them to her heart’s content!

If there’s one thing to know about Greta, it’s that she loves nothing more than offering and receiving affection! This little lovebug just can’t get enough pets and snuggles and kisses! Greta has shown great resilience since her rescue, and despite the traumas of her past, she has been quick to flourish while with her fosters. She was initially shy and unsure of her new surroundings when she first arrived in her fosters’ care – entering new rooms and going for walks were all a little too scary for her. In only a few short weeks, Greta has kissed those fears goodbye and she continues to transform into a comfortable and content girl more and more each day! She is extremely friendly with everyone whom she meets, whether it’s the groomer, the crossing guard or strangers on the street! Greta really believes that all strangers are eager to pet or befriend her, so she tries to make it easier by pulling towards them. She can be jumpy when meeting new people, though her fosters are working to correct that behavior. Greta is a little superstar around kids of all ages and offers up lots of licks! We have no doubt that she will make the perfect companion for any family!

Greta’s perfect weekend would consist of three things: going for walks, meeting new people, and cuddling on the couch. Greta is a fairly active girl who receives about 1.5 hours of exercise per day. She really enjoys going on walks (mostly for the social opportunities!). She likes to sniff, which often results in some zigzagging on the leash. Greta loves to meet new dogs along the way, too – she’s friendly and calm in the face of a new pup, offering up polite sniffs and tail wags. Recently, she discovered the joys of chasing squirrels and has also recognized that birds could be fun to chase, too! Greta is being fostered in Toronto and though loud noises get her attention, she remains unbothered by the sights and sounds of city life! Back at home, Greta hasn’t shown too much interest in playing (she’d much rather cuddle!). Her fosters have tried throwing a ball around, but Greta treats it like a treasure and will bring it back to her bed and stash it. She just doesn’t find toys as interesting as her people! When her fosters are home, Greta likes to remain close. However, she’s fine to be left alone if she knows she’s alone in the condo. Greta has a love/hate relationship with her crate, especially when the door is closed. She’s been most successful sleeping in the crate when the door is open and when she has the option to sleep outside of the crate on another dog bed!

Greta is microchipped and up to date with her vaccines. Shortly after she arrived with her foster, she had surgery to remove four very large stones from her bladder; the surgery also included some dental work and her spay. Post-surgery, Greta has continued to thrive! Upon receiving the results of Greta’s analysis, it should be noted that she will need to continue on urinary diet food, drink lots of water and will require routine urine testing (every 3-6 moths)(x-rays or ultrasound if urinary symptoms persist).

No matter how bad life had been before her rescue, it’s clear that Greta is ready to embrace her new life with open paws and a spritely spirit! We cannot wait for Greta’s new family to enjoy her endless kisses and cuddles!
