Meet your new bff, Harper! Born around April 6, 2026, Harper is a black lab x from a remote community in northern Manitoba where she was found as an emaciated stray. She is very grateful to have been rescued as it’s resulted in lots of snuggles, treats and chances to make new friends. Harper is destined to be a wonderful family dog and can’t wait to meet her people!

Harper was quick to discover that one of the greatest joys in life is making new friends! She’s yet to meet someone, two- or four-legged, whom she doesn’t like. Harper loves receiving attention from humans. She pulls on her leash to say hello and wags her tail and is always tempted to jump up for a closer look, though she’s starting to understand this is not polite and will sit nicely when presented with a treat. Harper also loves kids and knows they make the absolute best playmates! Her fosters encourage her to remain calm so her excitement doesn’t get the best of her. When other dogs are around, Harper loves interacting and is quick to show her belly. As for cats, she welcomes any chance to play but will leave them alone if they put her in her place!

While she loves an opportunity to socialize, what brings Harper the most joy is snuggling with her people and perching on the couch to watch the world go by! She may have the genetic makeup of a puppy but her fosters believe she more closely resembles a couch potato. She’s playful in short bursts but much prefers to laze around with a bone and has no interest in balls or fetch. As such, she would make a great apartment dog, though it’s still important that she receives regular exercise and bathroom breaks. These days her walks have been a little shorter (about three or four 15-minute walks) due to the heat, but it’s still given her time to work on her leash skills. Harper is easy to train (gotta love a lab!) and with some more practice, she’ll be a pro on the leash in no time!

Harper’s perfect weekend would consist of a walk to the farmers market to make new friends, followed by a big nap at home with her people nearby, and plenty of treats to top it all off! She loves to snuggle on the couch or in bed and would happily sleep on her fosters’ heads if they let her! Harper is eager to please and a joy to train, which is a wonderful combo for a puppy! She does enjoy taking shoes if you leave them out, and will either chew them or just move them around for fun. While she’s in her teething phase, it’s best that chewable items be stashed behind closed doors! The good news is that the chewing is specific to her teething phase and not a sign of separation anxiety. She’s been great when left alone (so far, up to four hours) and settled without any prolonged barking or whining.

Harper is microchipped and has received her first round of puppy shots. She’s fully potty trained and is excellent in her crate, sleeping soundly overnight and going in for a few hours during the day without a fuss, especially when she’s tired. Her adoption fee will include her second round of puppy shots and spay at six months.

Harper loves hanging with her people and can’t wait to be the cuddly little potato bug that you’ve been looking for!

ENERGY: Medium QUIRKS: She’s very submissive when she meets other dogs: she wiggles her bum, wags her tail and may even pee a little out of excitement as she shows off her belly!

TRAINING NEEDS: Continued basic puppy obedience and leash skills

MEDICAL NEEDS: Spay to be scheduled at six months
