  • It’s time for our next adoptable to wiggle his way into the hearts of our MUTTS community! Meet Henry, an 18-month-old Corgi who came to us after being discarded by a puppy mill. In spite of his rough start, Henry has been channeling his main character energy and is fully embracing his new life! This tiny guy with the big ears is ready to find a family of early birds who love adventures and a good game of tug!

Henry loves to be the life of the party and is always looking to have some fun! So far, he’s been hard-pressed to meet any new humans or dogs that he doesn’t immediately bond with. Henry has been leashed for all interactions with other dogs, and, when consent is granted for Henry to say hi, he sniffs, barks happily, and tries to play. Henry is super eager to meet new dogs and would likely do very well in an off-leash setting. He’d love a home with another dog, especially given that he’s an active pup and could use a pal to play with! Henry has been around younger kids and loved playing and running around the yard with them, often showing off his speed via zoomies! If other dogs or kids aren’t around, Henry loves to play with his toys (tug o’ war is his fave) and is in the process of learning fetch!

Though his tiny size would liken him to a perfect condo dog, Henry would be much better suited to a home with a yard. Corgis are a working breed, and Henry’s energy levels are no exception: he needs a lot of activity to ensure he is sufficiently tuckered out each day. He’s been known to run some impressive laps in a big outdoor space (fenced, of course)! Henry is also a little protective when he hears noises and can’t identify the source (i.e. voices in a condo hallway). He’ll stop once he figures out where the noise is coming from, but it’s hard to deny that his abilities as a very cute guard dog are not to be underestimated! Other targets of Henry’s barking include a rocking sheep toy and a mop. He knows you can never be too careful…

Henry has nailed his basic obedience training and can’t wait to show off his skills to his adoptive family! He’s also a great leash companion and heels well, though his curiosity often causes him to stop and sniff. His fosters’ can’t get enough of his waddle walk which is on full display as he parades through the ‘hood! Back home, Henry loves being with his people. He’s not much of a cuddler but really enjoys being praised and receiving head scratches. He’s a sweet and gentle pup who only shows off his destructive side when playing – no stuffy is left untorn during his tug o’ war games!

Henry is potty trained (one accident – Henry is an early riser, and his fosters slept in a liiittle too late for his liking) and crate trained. He will use the crate at night but not much during the day, though he’s fine to hang in his crate for a few hours when left alone. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date with his vaccines. He is currently being treated for Giardia – all associated costs will be covered by MUTTS.

If Henry sounds like the perfect guy for your family, don’t sleep on it … this little dog/penguin is sure to melt the hearts of many!
