Time to meet Lady Lottie! Lottie is a King Charles Spaniel X who came to MUTTS from a puppy mill where she was forced to breed. MUTTS was told she is six-years-old, but our vets suspect she is much younger, closer to two. After receiving a life-saving emergency spay (see her MUTTS introduction post for the whole story), Lottie was finally able to decompress and recover in the comfort of her foster home. She is ready to say goodbye to her past and move on with her new family!
Given the trauma of her past, Lottie is a surprisingly adaptable lady! She insists on following her foster wherever she goes – keeping tabs on the comings and goings of her foster family is of utmost important to this tiny gal. Luckily for Lottie, she is being fostered with energetic six-year-old twins who love including her when they play! Lottie can more than match their energy and has no trouble keeping up with their rambunctious activities. She is extremely gentle with the kids and has never displayed any inappropriate behaviours towards them. Lottie would absolutely thrive in a furever family with kids!
The perfect weekend for Lottie would look something like this: a short morning walk and check-in with all the neighbours, playing with the kids, recharging via naptime on the couch and hanging around the house with her foster family. She’s a simple girl without too many needs, so long as her family is nearby. This does mean that she’s not a fan of time alone and would much prefer if her fosters included her in their errand runs. She will whimper and whine when she sees her fosters preparing to leave. Though she doesn’t mind being crated for short periods of time, her fosters will let her roam free if they are gone for more than a few hours. Thankfully, Lottie’s separation anxiety is limited to her vocals – so far, she hasn’t channeled it into any destructive behaviours!
Given her tiny size and slight disdain for being outside too long, we think Lottie would really love condo life! While she does enjoy her walks, she has not shown any enthusiasm for longer outdoor adventures and will pull in the direction of home once she’s had enough. To be fair, before being fostered, Lottie likely never spent any time on a leash, so this is an area where she requires some training. It is possible that she will grow to love her time outside, but for now, her adoptive family will need to be prepared to work with her!
Lottie is microchipped, spayed and up to date with her vaccines. Now that she is fully recovered from her emergency spay, she received a clean bill of health from our friends at Southdown Animal Hospital!
Lottie is one lucky lady – we hate to think of what her fate would have been were we not able to rescue her. If you are looking for a loyal, loving pup with luscious locks to boot, Lottie is your girl!
