Our next adoptable is ready to meet her family! Meadow is a 7-8 year old lab X who was found as a stray in Ontario. This calm and gentle gal is a classic slow burn: she takes time to adjust to her surroundings and new humans, but once she’s comfortable she’ll melt your heart! Let’s help Meadow find the home of her dreams!
Though we don’t know much about Meadow’s past, we can tell you that she is the absolute perfect houseguest! Meadow is a lower energy girl and tends to spend her days relaxing. Initially she preferred to hang on her own, but as she’s grown more comfortable she’s started spending more time near her foster. She even thumps her tail at the sound of her foster’s voice!
The key to Meadow’s heart is to give her space and remain patient. She is a quiet girl and would be a wonderful match for similar kind of family. This doesn’t mean she’s totally opposed to a more boisterous crowd: her foster hosted a card night with 10 guests and Meadow didn’t have any issues interacting or dealing with the noise. She does well with new people, taking a few minutes to warm up before signaling her approval with a tail wag! Meadow also remains very chill around with kids. Meadow would be a great calming companion to dog-savvy kid or two, as long as proper introductions are prioritized.
Meadow is a medium energy girl who loves her daily walks, but is very calm in the home! Her foster takes her out for 60 minutes each morning, often hitting up a nearby trail (she really enjoys the serenity of nature!). She gets lots of praise and head scratches from people that she meets along the trail. She’s great on the leash, and responds well to basic commands of “come” and “stay”. Her afternoons are spent resting and popping out to the backyard for some fresh air and squirrel observation. She’s fascinated by the little creatures and often runs alongside them as they move across the fence! Her foster wraps up their day with a 30-minute evening walk. Given that she’s a fairly low-maintenance girl, we would consider her a condo-friendly pup on the condition that she still gets the outdoor time that she enjoys. Bonus points if activity time includes a car ride, as she loves the car and looking out the window! Meadow would make an excellent travel companion.
When it comes to other dogs, Meadow remains friendly with other dogs. Her foster calls her the “Dog Whisperer” given her patient nature. She enjoys walking with her Golden Retriever pal, making a side-by-side team. She doesn’t go out of her way to interact with a dog, but remains calm when approached. At home, she’s not that much into playing and doesn’t take much interest in her toys. Meadow much prefers to observe the everyday activity of the house, including watching the antics of the household cat. She loves ear scratches and melts your heart when she puts her head onto her foster’s lap for some cuddles!
Meadow adapts quickly to new environments, remaining poised and well behaved when visiting other people’s homes and even enjoys keeping her foster company when walking through hardware store.
When left on her own, she quietly waits until her foster family comes back home. Meadow is not destructive and knows not to touch things that aren’t hers!
Meadow is potty trained, microchipped and up to date with her vaccines. She loves her crate and enters without issue, sleeping inside through the night. Other than her spay scheduled for May 27th, Meadow has no medical issues to report!
Though she’s a quiet gal with simple interests, we know that a safe and patient home is very important for Meadow! Let’s help find this sweet girl the perfect family in time to kick off summer!
