GOOD WITH HUMANS (ADULTS AND KIDS), DOGS AND CATS

  • Introducing our next adoptable bébé, Moira Rose! Born December 11, 2025, Moira is one of the eight puppies rescued, alongside their mom, from a community in northern Manitoba. Though she is positively bedeviled with playtime and napping, et cetera, Moira promises to make time when her furever family comes knocking!

Unlike her namesake, Moira is not that picky when it comes to making new friends! Her fosters’ residence is home to many – another dog, two cats and two kids – so Moira is learning how to interact with a variety of two- and four-legged creatures. So far, she’s passed every test with flying colours! With the kids, she’s friendly and playful, allowing them to handle her while eating, sleeping and on the leash. The cats are quick to communicate when Moira’s energy is too much and she is learning to back off when given the warning. Moira and the resident dog, Henry, have developed a great friendship, enjoying lots of wrestling and playtime. Moira’s fosters believe she’s even adapted some similar behaviours: Henry smiles anytime he’s playing, prompting Moira to also sport her own toothy grin!

When it comes to basic commands, Moira is working away but is far too distracted with the world to think any of that pettifogging is directed at her! She much prefers to play with Henry and the kids; when she exhausts those options, Moira plays very well on her own. She’s been known to favour the kids’ toys, but will release them back without any issue. Her fosters have noted some resource guarding with certain bones: she’s given Henry a piece of her mind when he’s gotten too close, but Henry reacts in a playful way, which in turn lightens Moira’s mood. Speaking of play, Moira’s favourite activity is to wrestle with Henry, and she could easily spend her days cycling between wrestling and napping! Moira is very, very loud when she plays, so any potential adopters with shared walls should be ready to address this!

Potty training is a work in progress for Moira: she’s accident free when crated during the day and overnight (she has one pee break around 3:30am). In the evening, Moira’s fosters take her out several times with little or no response, only to do her business indoors when let back inside. Her fosters are using the command “focus” while outside, which has already helped. As for the crate, she’s 50/50. Moira loves going into her crate at night and at her foster’s office, but when crated during the day (and left alone), she behaves like a disgruntled pelican and screams. Her adoptive family should be armed and ready with potty and crate training skills to help set Moira up for success!

Moira is microchipped and has had her first round of puppy series shots. Her adoption fee will includes her remaining puppy shots and spay at six months.

We know that the perfect family is waiting in the wings to meet our spunky gal! In the words of one wise Moira to another, “One must champion oneself and say, ‘I am ready for this!’”
