  • Let’s say hello to Stitch! Stitch is a young Corgi who came to MUTTS as a mill discard from the same operation where several other Corgis have been rescued. Stitch is a naturally shy guy who prefers to take in new experiences in stride. When Stitch learned that it was time to find his family, he reminded us that “Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten!” Stitch cannot wait to meet his new ohana!

Stitch has lots to learn by way of basic obedience but he’s ready to give it his all … so long as there are treats involved! He’s already learned a few tricks (sit, come and place), so he has a solid foundation upon which to continue building his obedience repertoire. Stitch is also looking to improve his leash skills. Right now, he goes on a handful of short walks per day. At first he did not like the leash and collar, but after a few walks alongside his foster brother, Stitch picked up some good habits. He still needs to work on lunging after squirrels, so his adoptive family should be ready to put in the work on the leash!

Stitch’s favourite way to spend the weekend is to start with a short stroll, followed by some downtime with his fosters whilst munching on treats. He’s the perfect combination of easy going and curious. Stitch loves to laze around with his fosters just as much as he likes exploring the house. He’s a big fan of days when packages are delivered (he will bark anytime someone is at the door). According to Stitch, no package is safe to enter the home until it’s passed his inspection!

Stitch’s resident detective duties are also on full alert when he meets new people. He’s a naturally curious guy but will maintain a safe distance at first. Once he’s warmed up, Stitch is super friendly and cheerful! Though he’s not kid-tested, we believe Stitch would do just fine with respectful youngsters. Once Stitch is comfortable, he loves to receive affection. In fact, he insists on starting each day with a big round of belly rubs!

With other dogs, Stitch takes the same approach as he does with new people: he’s cautious, then curious, then friendly and playful! His fosters’ dog has been a great mentor for Stitch, helping to improve his confidence and keep him company. He is still learning how to play with other dogs – right now, the play sessions tend to turn into growling matches, but with time and proper supervision, we know that Stitch will figure out how to be a good playmate!

Stitch is potty trained and crate trained. His crate is a great tool to help deal with some separation anxiety: he is not destructive but he will cry and bark when left alone for a long time. Stitch is neutered, microchipped and up to date with his vaccines. He is currently being treated for Giardia Antigen; all associated costs will be covered by MUTTS.

This happy-go-lucky pup will make a stellar companion for any family! Let’s help him find his forever ohana!
